Our Story
In 2017, our founder Sarah took her rescue Golden Retriever to a traditional salon in South Tampa. The groomer did decent work, but there was a problem: her dog came back anxious and traumatized from spending 4 hours in a cage. Sarah remembered the barking, the chaos, and watching her dog shake when they came home.
That experience frustrated her to no end. She thought: "Why do we accept cages and chaos as the standard for pet grooming? Why can't we bring professional grooming to the pet, instead of forcing the pet to a stressful salon environment?" So she decided to do something about it.
Sarah spent the next 6 months researching mobile grooming, getting Fear-Free Certified, and learning how to run a fully equipped grooming van. She started PawsPlus with one simple promise: no cages, no kennels, just one-on-one care at your driveway. Her first clients were local rescue adoptions. Word spread fast.
Seven years later, we've groomed over 12,500 pets across Hillsborough County. We've worked with anxious rescue dogs, senior cats, dogs with past salon trauma, and pets with every kind of behavioral challenge. Every single groom follows our Fear-Free principles: gentle handling, minimal stress, and your pet's wellbeing as our top priority.
